Jaclyn Bess Wilk

I first met Jackie when I was 9 years old. At my summer camp, Camp B'nai Brith of Montreal. We weren't in the same cabin, but we were in the same unit. Our older sisters were friends, so since it was Jackie's first summer at camp, they introduced us. We immediately became friends. Jackie always had problems with her heart, so that summer she had a box over her heart helping it pump. After that great summer she had at camp, the doctors wouldn't let her go back for a while. When we were 12 she finally got her heart transplant and was home-schooled for a couple of years. Although she wasn't back at camp for a while, almost every time from the age of 12-14 when she finally came back, my sister and I would go visit Jackie and her sister everytime we came into Montreal. She quickly became one of my best friends. At 14 she finally got to come back to camp and we spent one of the best summers of my life together in the same tent. We were inseprable. At that time we both had short hair, so everyone called us twins since we looked the same and were attached at the hip. The next summer, an incident happened that unfortunately tore us apart a bit. But we still remained friends, just not as close. Unfortunately that lasted 3 years. We were friends, just not best friends anymore. On Septemeber 7, 2009 Jackie was rushed to the hospital, as her heart finally gave out. She was given only 5 years at least after her transplant, and had an extra 7. She was a miracle child. I miss her with all my heart. I think about her all the time. Her smile, her laughter, all the amazing times we shared together. It's been so hard, especially since we were starting to become close again right before she got sick for the last time. A bunch of us who knew Jaclyn are putting together a benefit variety show in order to raise money for the children's hospital in which her family has started a foundation after her. The show will take place in March. http://te-in.facebook.com/event.php?eid=167887781519&index=1
She will forever be in my heart. She was one of the most special and amazing friends I had. She was amazing with children and she loved to eat almost as much as I did. We were so alike, it was perfect. I miss her so much and I will never forget her and every moment we shared together.
